Southbank – Festival Of The World

Collaborative efforts with Small Earth in June 2012, a project to create a 5 meter pierced earth dome with a surrounding contoured playscape for London’s Southbank – ‘Festival of the World’ on the 2 story high deck between the Hayward Gallery and The Royal Festival Hall.

The build was managed by two of our own members Iliona Khalili & Tommaso Bazzechi and Small Earths Lajos Macsar,  and Janos Z. Bozo. Project  built by Hooman Fazly, Alex Stelistu, Sébastien Doerler, Brooke Smiley,  Ashley Schwartz and Antonio Gheorghe.

Initially the structures were built to only stand for the time period allocated for the festival. The space is so loved by visitors and children that the organisers have recognised its social value and have permitted it to stay!

Come visit the dome!

It is free and accessible to the general public, a 5 minute walk from Waterloo Station and is situated next to the Hayward Gallery, London. It can be accessed by the Hungerford Bridge from the north of the Thames river. Cafes and restaurants surrounding the site are within 2 minutes walk.
